Heading to the Dentist During Covid-19 For Your Six Month Dental Cleaning and Check-up

Hi everyone,

Navigating through these unprecedented times has been a difficult task for all of us and we just wanted to check in and say hello.  And also give you a lot of information all crammed into one blog post…

So, here goes:

At Gotham Dental, we understand that everyone is wondering what is safe to do and trying to figure out what they are even comfortable doing.  Because we feel the same way.

So we just wanted to write letting you know where we stand at this time.  Gotham Dental follows ADA guidelines for cleanings and check-ups, which are that we recommend to have cleanings and check-ups once every six months.  There are tons of reasons why this is recommended (prevents halitosis, cancer screening, help prevent gum disease, etc). So basically, for the health of your teeth and for early detection of any issues.

We know that due to Covid, we had to reschedule hundreds of appointments. If you were one of those patients or if you are overdue and feel comfortable coming in, please give us a call or send us an email to schedule an appointment.

With that said, we know that during these times, everyone has concerns.  So we just wanted to share with you a few things that we have done in order to mitigate some of those concerns, for our patients, and for our staff.

Following ADA, CDC and NYS guidelines, we have made many changes before re-opening the office.  The entire staff has contributed to these guidelines and worked together to create an environment that, we hope, feels safe for everyone.  From our front desk area to each operatory, we are working hard to ensure your (and our own) comfort. Here are just a few examples of what we have done in the past few weeks regarding Covid-19 Safety.  We began with our AC system. It has been cleaned and sanitized, all HEPA filters replaced and updated.  In addition, we have installed a Global Plasma Solutions Air Ionizer in the AC, a leader in pathogen reduction.

Also, each room and the waiting room has been equipped with a Surgically Clean Air Purifier, one of the most advanced medical grade air systems on the market.

We have also fitted each room with Extraoral aerosol system, which removes high volumes of droplets and aerosols produced during treatment.

Plexiglass Barriers have been installed in the main entrance, masks are worn at all times and social distancing is practiced in the office. We also have hand sanitizing stations and the staff will all be wearing full PPE.

Well, that’s about it for now.  There are a multitude of other smaller changes that we have enacted which you are welcome to ask us about. But in the interest of keeping this blog post short…

We hope to see you soon and hope everyone is well.
