What Is CEREC?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) system that designs and mills a custom ceramic crown right in our Flatiron District office, while you wait. Instead of sending an impression to an outside lab, we capture a precise digital scan of your tooth, design your restoration on-screen, and mill it from a solid block of tooth-colored ceramic — all in about the time it takes to watch a movie.
How the Same-Day Crown Process Works
Digital scan, not a goopy impression. We use a digital scanner to capture an exact 3D image of your tooth. No trays, no messy putty, no gag reflex.
Custom crown design. Our CEREC software designs your crown to match the shape, bite, and contact points of your natural tooth.
Milled on-site. The design is sent to our in-office milling unit, which carves your crown out of a solid ceramic block.
Bonded and done. Dr. Samuelian checks the fit, adjusts your bite, and bonds the finished crown in place — same day.
