Why Flossing is so Important

Oh, flossing. Everyone’s favorite subject! Here’s the thing, while most everybody doesn’t WANT to do it, if you aren’t doing it, you are not cleaning your teeth! If you are not flossing, bacteria are growing and living between your teeth and under your gums, causing odor, tooth decay, gum disease , staining, and bleeding. Flossing is basically brushing between teeth as your toothbrush will not reach those areas.

If you find that flossing is difficult for you using handheld floss, look into an Air flosser or a Water Pik. Many of our patients have found that these items completely change their flossing routine for the better! That way, next time your hygienist asks if you are flossing, there is no need to hide your face from them…they will see the difference!
